Commission publishes report following negotiating round with Mercosur


In keeping with its commitment to a more transparent trade policy the Commission has published the report summarising the progress made during the latest round of talks for the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.

In keeping with its commitment to a more transparent trade policy the Commission has published the report summarising the progress made during the latest round of talks for the EU-Mercosur trade agreement.

The reportoffers a summary of the progress made in all areas of the negotiations, namely: trade in goods (including market access, and general rules); wine and spirits annex; rules of origin; anti-fraud; technical barriers to trade; sanitary and phytosanitary measures (animal and plant health); state-owned enterprises, disputes settlement; services and establishment; government procurement; intellectual property (including geographical indications); trade and sustainable development; small and medium-sized enterprises; and institutional affairs.

The EU remains committed to reaching a comprehensive, balanced and ambitious trade agreement. The latest round with Mercosur was held between 6 and 10 November in Brasilia and the next one is starting in Brussels on 29 November.
