DLG-Feldtage 2018 takes the theme "Crop 2030"

The DLG-Feldtage 2018 will take place under the theme "Crop 2030”. The focus is on productivity, innovations and strategies. Exhibitors at the event will present their pioneering developments in processes, technologies and resources that will enable sustainable increases in output from crop production.

The trade fair recognizes that productivity and the responsible use of resources are key to crop production’s long-term profitability. The focus, therefore, is on innovative farming strategies that bring together vigorous and healthy plant varieties, efficient equipment and processes, and the integration of new technologies. Increasingly, this means the use of digital tools to increase the precision of tillage operations and optimize the ordering of inputs, fertilization and plant protection regimes, and harvesting. Increasing the efficiency of farm logistics operations is also possible.

New precision farming techniques, that use a variety of sensors to monitor field and plant conditions, mean that it is now possible to employ site-specific treatments so that soil structure and fertility is increased, losses are minimized and yields are increased. At the same time, this targeted management technique recognizes the importance of fields and meadows as valuable habitats for flora and fauna.

DLG-Feldtage project manager Andreas Steul, from event manager DLG (German Agricultural Society) said this year’s event will provide a comprehensive market overview for visitors.

“More than 300 companies, associations and institutions from all over Germany and neighboring countries have signed up to this unique event for crop farmers,” added Steul. “They will be exhibiting crop varieties and seed, fertilizers and pesticides, innovative production processes, and services and resources that will show visitors new ways to optimize their crops.

Various machinery demonstrations will take place during DLG-Feldtage 2018, including the special feature "Efficient application of slurry and digestate”. There will also be an international crop comparison trials for winter wheat and eco-quality wheat, an "Organic Farming" special feature, and lectures and discussions on current agronomic issues to complement the range of products and services presented by this year’s exhibitors.

A returning highlight at DLG-Feldtage 2018 is the International Field Robot Event. This student competition, featuring teams from all over Europe, will involve autonomous field robots competing against each other as they carry out various crop-production tasks.

The DLG-Feldtage take place from 12 to 14 June 2018 at DLG’s International Crop Production Center at Bernburg (Sachsen-Anhalt). The event is co-organized by the State of Saxony-Anhalt’s Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Energy, and Allianz, together with Münchener und Magdeburger Agrarversicherung AG (Munich and Magdeburg Agricultural Insurance).

Trade partners are: Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (Agency for Renewable Resources), Union zur Förderung der Öl- und Proteinpflanzen (Union for the Promotion of Oil and Protein Plants) and Nordzucker AG.
