To achieve this, Europe must change direction. A politically, socially and economically strong – but reformed – EU is Europe’s only chance of prospering in the era of globalisation.
The 2014 European Parliament elections present a timely opportunity to enact this change. Throughout the next legislative term, workers and citizens must come first, and their fundamental rights must take priority over economic freedoms.
In particular, EFFAT has laid out seven key demands to ensure that new and returning Members of the European Parliament genuinely value workers and thereby maximise the potential of Europe’s food, agriculture (sector vegetable, fruit, potato, meat, ...) and tourism sectors.
