Beijingers spend $140 each dining out in 2005


Beijing residents spent 1,147 yuan(about 140 U.S. dollars) per person on eating out in 2005, according to the Municipal Bureau of Statistics.

    The figure, up 8.4 percent over the previous year, shows that every Beijinger spent about 100 yuan (12.5 U.S. dollars) per month in restaurants last year.

    The statistics also reveal that Beijingers' per capita expenditure is up 15.3 percent for vegetables and fruits, 6.4 percent for dairy products, and 12.1 percent for sugar, cigarettes,liquor and beverages.

    The per capita disposable income of urban residents in Beijing reached 17,653 yuan (2,053 U.S. dollars), while the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 7,860 yuan (975 U.S. dollars) in 2005.
