Fruit Logistica 2006: Apulia with its own stand for the first time

Apulia is represented with its own independent stand for the first time at FRUIT LOGISTICA.

The combined show, organised by the Berlin office of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany, features the Agricultural Ministry, Foreign Trade Centre, and twelve companies and trade associations, representing 70 fruit and vegetable producers. With annual production totalling over one million tonnes Apulia is Europes largest dessert grape-growing region, and among the 14 varieties the leader is Italia, with 45 per cent of the total.

Other major products consist of potatoes (200,000 t), artichokes (180,000 t), cauliflowers (170,000 t) and water melons (150,000 t). Germany is the main trading partner for products bearing the Prodotti di Puglia seal of quality such as dessert grapes (29 % of the export total), sweet cherries (20 %), potatoes (40 %) and water melons (35 %).
