Copa and Cogeca committed to responsible drinking and a sustainable wine culture

Copa and Cogeca re-affirmed in Brussels today their commitment to ensuring a sustainable wine culture, governed by responsible drinking, and renewed its participation in the Wine in Moderation (WiM) programme.

Copa and Cogeca Secretary-General Pekka Pesonen said “I welcome the 10 year anniversary of this successful campaign which aims to help consumers make responsible choices compatible with a healthy lifestyle. It is clear that wine can only be truly appreciated in moderation”.

“Campaigns and activities under the auspices of this crucial programme are taking place all across Europe, using a tailor-made tool-kit for it adapted to local and cultural needs. Guidelines are also set out to give consumers the best food and wine pairings to deliver a richer gastronomic and cultural experience”, added Pesonen.

Stylianos Filopoulos, Director of the WiM Association said "Wine is an agricultural product that involves thousands of farmers in Europe”.

“Copa and Cogeca are the leading European bodies representing farmers and cooperatives. The renewal of our cooperation does not only confirm Copa and Cogeca's commitment to a sustainable wine culture but also showcases the roots and the relevance of the Wine in Moderation programme within the EU agriculture sector, the wine regions and its people," concluded Filopoulos.
