Farm Frites discusses the construction of a new French Fry Factory in Kazakhstan


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Askar Myrzakhmetov on January 25 met with representatives of the Dutch company Farm Frites which plans to build a plant for production of frozen fried potatoes in the northeast of Kazakhstan, the official website of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan reports.

The project plans to build a plant with annual production capacity of 140 thousand tons of processed potatoes. The amount of investments is being discussed.

 The company Farm Frites is currently conducting a survey of a resource base of Pavlodar and Karaganda regions in the northeast of Kazakhstan for compliance with potato cultivation technology and availability of storage facilities, as well as the climatic conditions of the region.

Farm Frites was founded in 1971 in the Netherlands as a family business. The production of frozen and chilled products from potatoes is the main activity of the company. The company has 40 sales offices and six factories in 40 countries. The company’s potato processing plants produce up to 1.3 million tons annually with exports to more than 80 countries.

On the same day, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev had a telephone talk with Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte.

 They discussed issues of bilateral trade and economic relations, as well as the preparation for the third session of the Kazakh-Dutch Business Council to be held in Astana this June.

 Sagintayev invited leading Dutch companies to participate in the program of industrial-innovative and infrastructure development of Kazakhstan.

The Netherlands is one of the leading investors (FDI at about $60 billion) and one of the main trading partners of Kazakhstan in the EU (trade turnover in 2016 at more than $3 billion).
