Significant exhibitor interest already in 2016 DLG-Feldtage

More than 270 companies registered – About 25,000 visitors expected – Held from 14 to 16 June 2016 at the estate of Mariaburghausen in Haßfurt (Bavaria).

A high level of exhibitor interest for the DLG-Feldtage exhibition, the meeting point for crop production experts, is expected again this year. More than two thirds of the expected 350 exhibitors have already registered for the event.

“We are pleased that 270 companies from Germany and neighboring countries have already signed up as exhibitors at the DLG-Feldtage,” says Andreas Steul, project manager, DLG-Feldtage exhibition.  “This reflects a current need to not only launch crop production innovations, but also to exchange expert knowledge in this continually developing field.

“DLG-Feldtage is more than just an exhibition. It is an opportunity to explore, in the middle of more than 100 trial plots, what is possible,” added Steul.

This level of interest five months before the event once again underlines the position of the DLG-Feldtage exhibition as an essential event for crop growers to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest crop production techniques. The event takes place every two years at alternating German locations, and this year it will be held from 14 to 16 June at the estate Mariaburghausen, in Haßfurt, Bavaria, some two hours east of Frankfurt by car.

Trial plots area fully booked; Available spaces on campus remain

The main attraction of the DLG-Feldtage2016 are the trial plots. These typically present growing crops from new seed varieties. With 110 exhibitors already registered, the trial plot area, covering 20 ha, is fully booked. These companies will show a wide range of varieties of all major crops. In addition, other individual components of crop production, such as targeted fertilization and environmentally sound pest and disease control, as well as different cultivation techniques, will be presented in the field.

Practical European wheat and rapeseed comparison plots

The ever-popular European winter wheat and rapeseed comparison demonstration will once again be a key attraction for international visitors. Some 20 professional agronomists from seven countries compete in this segment of the event. Each participant in the wheat competition variant will be striving to achieve the highest performance free of direct costs. The rapeseed section will be presenting methods to solve the environmental policy challenges that farmers are confronted with in oilseed rape cultivation today.

In this experimental section of the competition, teams will be presenting what they consider to be an interesting new process. The varied designs of the cropping methods (variety, drilling method, fertilizing and plant protection) correspond to the diversity of market requirements. Each participant will presents two plots: one that is typical of their home country and one that is the agronomists recommendation for this particular soil and climate.

Machinery demonstrations with new concept

The DLG-Feldtage exhibition will again feature the following machinery in dedicated demonstration areas:

- Mineral fertilizer spreaders in practical use;
- Sensor technology for precision farming; and
- A practical comparison of crop protection sprayers.

And, for the first time at the event, exhibitors will be able to independently present live demonstration of techniques immediately adjacent to their stands. The topics featured will be in the fields of:

- Drilling machinery for grain crops;
- Injection machinery and equipment for liquid organic fertilizer; and
- Steering and data management systems on tractors.

Special focus on field drones and remote sensing systems in the agricultural sector

This year, the DLG will be offering, together with selected exhibitors, a special focus on "drones and remote sensing systems". Here, visitors will be able to obtain detailed information about this exciting new technology and its various applications. Flight demonstrations will take place on all three exhibition days.

International Field Robot Event

The 14th International Field Robot Event, organized by the University of Hohenheim, will take place at the DLG-Feldtage exhibition this year. This annual event sees international student teams competing with their robots to ahieve the best results in the field. The goal is to test pioneering technologies in robotics and precision farming under real conditions, and to give young scientists the opportunity to interact in an international group of participants and develop their ideas.

The DLG-Feldtage 2016 exhibition is organized by the DLG together with the Bavarian State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (Munich); BayWa AG (Munich); and Vereinigte Hagelversicherung – Mutual Agricultural Insurance Association (Giessen). Trade partners include: Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe – Agency for Renewable Resources (Gülzow); Union zur Förderung von Oel- und Proteinpflanzen – the Union for Promoting Oil and Protein Plants (Berlin); and Südzucker AG (Mannheim).
The organizers are expecting about 25,000 visitors at this year’s DLG-Feldtage.
