The first edition of the Livestock Forum, which is being organized in collaboration with the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology (IRTA) of the Department of Agriculture of the Catalan government, as a founding partner, will bring together the leading experts in this industry to reveal the latest technical advances in the sector through a programme of presentations featuring national and international experts backed up by a large commercial contingent of around 250 exhibitors.
The Livestock Forum has been created with the clear mission of providing a platform for debate that is currently non-existent in Europe. It will enable delegates to share knowledge and experiences on animal health-related matters, ranging from food safety to the wellbeing of farm animals and the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
The event – which will have an exhibition area featuring all the sectors involved in the research and development of processes from their outset through to the manufacture and distribution of products – enjoys the support and advice of an International Advisory Board made up of representatives from organizations such as the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), amongst others.
In this respect, the forum aims to provide a tool for engendering cross-cutting, interdisciplinary discussions and analyses on an international scale to tackle the technical challenges facing safe and sustainable animal production. In doing so, the Livestock Forum offers an innovative programme of activities and networking sessions for sharing good practices and experiences and transferring technology and know how among the different players in the sector.
