Eaststarch is currently jointly controlled by ADM and Tate & Lyle plc of the United Kingdom. ADM is a multinational processor of agricultural commodities including corn. ADM also manufactures related semi-finished products. Eaststarch produces and sells corn-based native and modified starches.
The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not raise competition concerns, because it would not alter the competitive situation in the market to a significant extent, since, before this transaction, ADM already controlled Eaststarch jointly with Tate & Lyle plc. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.
