The Commission approves one new Protected Geographical Indication from Portugal

TheThe Commission has approved the addition of a new product from Portugal to the register of Protected Geographical Indications (PGIs).

‘Arroz Carolino do Baixo Mondego’ is a long-grain rice cultivated in the region of Baixo Mondego. The relatively few hours of daylight and mild temperatures in this area of harvesting lead to a slower maturation of the grains in the rice fields, which gives Arroz Carolino do Baixo Mondego its culinary properties. This denomination will be added to the list of over 1,200 products already protected. More information: webpages on quality products and DOOR database of protected products.
