Commission clears acquisition of Greenyard Foods by Deprez Holding

The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of Greenyard Foods NV by Deprez Holding NV, both of Belgium.

Deprez Holding, through its subsidiaries Univeg Holding BV and Peatinvest NV, is active in the production and sale of fresh fruits and vegetables (including fresh-cut produce), flowers and plants, as well as related transport and logistics, and in the horticultural sector. Greenyard Foods is active in the processing and commercialisation of vegetables and fruit. It is also active in the ready-to-eat-food sector, offering both deep frozen and canned products (under the divisions Pinguins and Noliko).

The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns, because the overlaps between the activities of Greenyard and Deprez Holdings are very limited. The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.

More information is available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.7615.
