Phil Hogan, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, will be on 7-8 May in Istanbul, Turkey to participate in the G20 Agriculture Ministers meeting.
The meeting will focus on food security and sustainability and ministers will exchange views on how to reduce food losses and waste. Commenting ahead of the meeting, Commissioner Hogan stated: "The principle of food security is entirely compatible with the G20's core mission: to restore strong, sustainable and balanced growth to the global economy. Together, we must develop sustainable food systems and focus the international debate on increasing productivity, while continuing to address climate change and the sustainable management of natural resources."
Commissioner Hogan will meet many of his counterparts from across the globe at that occasion. The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries plus the European Union. Turkey is serving as the president of the G20 in 2015.
