Interpoma is the only event of the sector in the world. This trade fair, extended over a 25,000 m² area, hosts the entire supply chain, from cultivation to storage to marketing of Adam and Eve’s fruit. The international congress "The Apple in the World" started yesterday and had full house even from the very beginning. This exhibition’s flagship event showed the attendees the international scenarios on market trends.
During the opening speech, Georg Kössler, President of the South Tyrolean Apple Consortium, emphasized the long tradition of the apple industry economy in South Tyrol and its worldwide-known sterling apples. Even Bolzano’s mayor Luigi Spagnolli enhanced South Tyrolean farmers for the pride and passion they dedicate in presenting their excellent products to all Europe.
Also some members of European Parliament attended the opening ceremony: Herbert Dorfmann and Giovanni La Via, President of Commission of environment, public health and food safety, both proud to be at this important international show for all apple industry, hosted in a territory of excellence at European level for its beauty and ability to cooperate.
Excusing for not being there, Maurizio Martina, Italian Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Policies, sent a letter to Fiera Bolzano (official text in Italian here attached) to thank for the invitation and to underline the importance of Interpoma and South Tyrol for the international apple industry.
In order to celebrate Interpoma as a global excellence trade show which contributes to strengthen the terrritory’s image, a masterpiece of art has been created by the well-known artist Julia Bornefeld. The big stylized apple is located in the square in front of the main entrance of Bolzano Exhibition Centre and it will be Interpoma's symbol for the next editions.
