European Parliament delays the abolition of EU sugar quotas


The European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions (EFFAT) welcomes today’s vote by the European Parliament to extend the current regime of national sugar production quotas until 2020, rather than scrap the system from 2015. The plenary fully accepted the text voted by the European Parliament’s Agriculture and Rural Development Committee on 23 January and rejected all amendments.
