The European Association for Potato Research will organize its 19th Triennial Conference 6-11/07/14

We are delighted to invite you to this important congress which is held for the first time in Belgium (Brussels). This congress represents a real opportunity for the Belgian potato industry as well as for research institutions and private companies, who will share their scientific and technical know-how. The scientific topics of the congress focus on all of the classical aspects of the potato sector, especially the latest knowledge about sustainable and innovative techniques. Recent and innovative fundamental research and applied research results will be presented, together with technological transfer and implementation for users.

The Belgian potato crop and industry have been rapidly developing in the last 15 years. In Belgium alone, the potato-cropped area increased from ca 33% during the last 15 years and the Belgian potato processing sector is now number-one in the world for export and in the top 3 for production with more than 3.5 million tons of processed potatoes.

Brussels, the capital of 500 million Europeans, is a convivial, cosmopolitan city at the crossroads of information and influence. It was ranked as the number-one European city for international association congresses (UIA, 2010). Brussels has a wonderful historical patrimony and culture and has all the necessary ingredients to create unforgettable meetings. Brussels is located in the center of Belgium, which makes it easy for visitors to rapidly access all parts of the Belgian countryside.

The conference venue is the CROWNE PLAZA Hotel, in the city center”. This well-equipped venue with all Congress facilities includes 200 pre-booked rooms. Other hotels are also available nearby. Located in the heart of Europe, Brussels is easy to reach by flight, train or car.

This event is co-organized by the “Centre wallon de Recherches agronomiques” – CRA-W in Gembloux/Libramont, Belgium – and the “Interprovinciaal Proefcentrum voor de Aardappelteelt” – PCA/Inagro in Kruishoutem/Rumbeke-Beitem, Belgium. The organizing committee has members from many Belgian scientific and technical institutions including the CRA-W, PCA, Inagro, UCL, UGent, ULg-Gbx ABT, FIWAP, CARAH and Belgapom.

Visit this website regularly for regular updates about the congress. We kindly ask you to fill in a contact form so we can keep you up to date and to better estimate attendance. This database is used solely for the purpose of informing you of the conference and will not be shared with other organizations.

We are grateful to the association AIM Group International to help us in the coordination of this congress and to the association VisitBrussels to supply supports for the organization of this event.
