Cooperation in subtropical sustainable greenhouse Taiwan
In Taiwan, a sustainable horticultural production can contribute to achieving energy efficiency in the greenhouse sector and therefore contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases.

The major goal of the project is to promote a sustainable Taiwanese greenhouse horticulture following a public-private approach involving business, research and government from the Netherlands and Taiwan.
The project is aiming at:
Establishing a platform for knowledge and business exchange and networking for research, industry and government to develop a sustainable - energy-efficient and economically viable - greenhouse systems/models suitable for Taiwanese conditions;
Developing a vision on sustainable horticulture in Taiwan, in particular for the orchid sector
Designing in joint effort plans and roadmaps for a public-private based innovation and demonstration centre in Taiwan
Results
A platform for knowledge exchange and networking ;
Plan and roadmap for a public-private approach for sustainable horticulture
Commitment of government and private sector in Taiwan and Netherlands for plan and roadmap including financial aspects
Seminars and meetings in Netherlands and Taiwan
A plan for a demonstration center with working sustainable greenhouse models.
Timeline approach
The project will follow a participatory approach in which all major interested parties/stakeholders from both Taiwan and the Netherlands will be involved. The combination of the top-level innovative knowledge and expertise of the Dutch greenhouse sector with the in depth knowledge of the Taiwanese counterparts of the local economic, physical and climatologic conditions is expected to lead to a convincing start of sustainable greenhouse sector in Taiwan. In order to achieve the expected synergy among the partners in the project a series of seminars and workshops will be organized.
