The International participation in MacFrut 2012 is growing

Just a few days left to the inauguration of the exhibition dedicated to the fruit and vegetable sector, to be held at Cesena Fiera from 26th to 28th September. Delegations from more than 80 countries and buyers of the Large-scale Retail Distribution will be there.

(Cesena 20 September 2012) The inauguration of the 29th edition of Macfrut, the international exhibition of the fruit and vegetable sector to be held in Cesena, is getting closer. A few days before the 2012 edition, that will take place from 26th to 28th September, many news have already been published, with a special focus on internationalization, one of the main pillars of the trade fair.
Many authorized visitors already confirmed their presence, with delegations and groups from more than 80 countries, such as Spain, France, Germany, Brazil, India, China, South Africa and Turkey, to name but a few. International buyers will also be present. Among them, the presence of a delegation of operators of the Large-scale Retail Distribution from the former Eastern countries is particularly noteworthy.

Along with this wide international presence, a broad range of conferences will also take place. We start on Tuesday, September 25th, with a conference entirely dedicated to strawberries. At 10am, the Strawberry International Meeting will gather world experts for a training session on several topics such as strawberry crops, research on new varieties and marketing, among others.

On Wednesday, September 26th, at 10am the Sala Agricoltura will host a round table on “Wholesale markets: new concepts, new functions”, followed by a presentation of the project “Central European Initiative Wholesale Markets Foundation”, for the support to new fruit and vegetable markets in Eastern Europe.
On the same day at 10.30am the Sala Verde will host a meeting on “Supplier relations in the fruit and vegetable industry”, with a view to comparing different European experiences and delving into topics relating to commercial transactions and employment creation in the sector, also taking into account the new Italian and French regulations.

On Thursday, September 27th, we will start with a technical meeting of the Melon Working Group, set up by the Fruit, Vegetable and Horticultural European Regions Assembly. The conference will take place in Sala Agricoltura at 9.30am and will gather sales professionals from France, Spain, Italy and North Africa.
At 10.30am the Sala Europa will host a meeting on aggregation, interprofessional relations and internationalization in the Italian fruit and vegetable sector, promoted by some of the main trade associations.
At 2.30pm the same room will host the conference “Fresh-cut products change gear. Quality and guaranteed minimum shelf life for a market increasingly focused on the large-scale retail trade”, with lectures by university professors and researchers.
At 2pm (Sala Gialla), focus on Jordan and on new opportunities for the production of high-quality fresh-cut products in the Arab country. At 2.30pm the Sala Verde will host a meeting on the project “Fruit in Schools” of the CSO, the Fruit and Vegetable Service Centre, followed by a round table on the activities for the promotion of fruit consumption in schools carried out in Italy, Poland, Hungary and other European countries.

On Friday, September 28th, focus will be given to the apricot with a conference on the economic competitiveness of apricot crops in the main producing countries (Sala Europa, 2.30pm). Also, at 4pm, the Sala Europa will host a meeting between producers and suppliers from Italy and France.
