INTERPOM PRIMEURS 2012: More strong growth and further internationalisation

INTERPOM PRIMEURS will be held on Sunday 25 to Tuesday 27 November 2012 in Kortrijk Xpo (Belgium). INTERPOM PRIMEURS is renowned as the most wide ranging platform for information and contacts for the whole fruit and vegetable sector in Europe, from the grower right through to processing and marketing. With three months still to go, we have already beaten the record number of 225 exhibitors at the last INTERPOM PRIMEURS and it is clear that this time, we will be filling almost the entire exhibition complex here at Kortrijk Xpo.

Proof positive that INTERPOM PRIMEURS is the most sharply focused indoor trade fair in Europe, unequalled for its high-quality, professional exhibits for growers, contractors, processors, packers, buyers and traders of fresh and processed potatoes, fruit and vegetables.

A strong trade fair with an international reputation is essential for a growth sector

The past editions of INTERPOM PRIMEURS showed strong growth figures and this year is no exception. The organizers expect 245 exhibitors from 12 different countries and some 15 000 professional visitors from 25 countries. The high quality and clear focus of the event means that INTERPOM PRIMEURS can count on a mass influx of fruit and vegetable professionals visiting from all over Europe, plus a growing contingent from other continents as well.

With its home base in Kortrijk Xpo, our trade fair is rooted in a dynamic, growing market. The Belgian potato processing industry is the world’s largest exporter of potato products and the dynamism of the Belgian potato sector (potatoes for consumption and seed potatoes) and the frozen vegetable business together represent a growth market of international format. INTERPOM PRIMEURS plays an important role here as a platform motivating businesses to present innovative technologies for the potato, fruit and vegetable chain, and exchange information. INTERPOM PRIMEURS is the ideal meeting place for this growth sector, and a forum where all the necessary information can be found to help you invest in the most efficient systems.
To stimulate the export of these products within Europe and beyond, Belgapom and Vegebe, in conjunction with the promotion services of the VLAM, APAQ-W, FIT and AWEX, are organizing an opportunity to meet with their export managers.

Focus on innovation: presentation of the Inno Potato Award and press conference presenting innovation plans in the potato sector in Wallonia and Flanders.
Now to be awarded for the 2nd time, the Inno Potato Award honours innovations in the agricultural sector. The competition aims to encourage and publicise innovations. Potato growers can present an innovation they have recently applied in their business in the field of cultivation, storage or mechanisation. The winning projects will be announced shortly on the websites www.interpom-primeurs.be and www.innopotato.be.

During INTERPOM PRIMEURS, the finalists’ projects will also be presented through interviews and company reports. The winners will be selected by a professional jury AND visitors’ votes during the first two days of the event. The Inno Potato Award will be presented at the official presentation ceremony on Tuesday afternoon 27 November 2012.
Also on Tuesday 27 November, immediately before the presentation of the Inno Potato Award, a green paper on innovation in potato growing in Flanders and Wallonia will be presented. This report is the result of a discussion day in Flanders and a round table discussion in Wallonia on the theme of innovation in potato growing.

Information, inspiration and contacts

INTERPOM PRIMEURS is where the dynamism of the potato, fruit and vegetable sector can really be felt. INTERPOM PRIMEURS is a must-do event for everyone who aims to keep up with the latest developments in the sector and discover the hottest innovations. But that’s not all: our trade fair is also a fantastic opportunity to make new contacts and link up again with your colleagues and suppliers in Belgium and abroad, exchange ideas and share information in a sector with a rosy future!

INTERPOM PRIMEURS is an initiative of Belgapom, the official trade association of the Belgian potato trade, growers and processors. The practical organization is in the capable hands of Kortrijk Xpo.
