Agritechnica 2011: Agri-markets 2012 - Moving agriculture forward

Tuesday, 15th of November 2011, 6.30 - 8.00 pm. Hanover Exhibition Grounds, Convention Center, room 1B

We are witnessing an era of steadily increasing long-term demand for agricultural products today. Key drivers of this demand growth are population expansion, changing consumption habits due to rising incomes and increasing demand for bioenergy.
These key drivers are characteristic of many developing countries, which together account for the current surge in global demand for food and agri-produce. Subsequently, this has also triggered a boom in international trade flows for agricultural commodities and food products. Market fundamentals such as currency exchange rates, financial market performance and oil prices, as well as policy factors will continue to weight heavily on movements in agricultural markets.
As with everywhere else in the world, agriculture is also evolving into a dynamic sector with fresh opportunities, particularly in huge emerging economies where the need to feed a growing, more demanding population is becoming more urgent than ever.
Agri-markets 2012 takes a look at these market forces affecting markets everywhere in the context of the current dynamics in world agriculture. Focusing on the theme of market developments depending on fundamental market changes and developments on the financial markets, this second edition of Agri-markets, organised by the DLG and German Farmers Association and held during Agritechnica 2011 is a one-day event targeted towards anyone in the agriculture production sector, including farmers and producers, the agri-machinery industry, and agricultural associations and offices. Presentations will include:

• World agricultural market on the move - which factors determine the prices?
