IFEST 2012 follows impetus of the new cleantech sector

By way of expanding and adding to what it offers, IFEST is to be held concurrently with InfraTech, the trade fair for the civil engineering industry.
From 14th to 16th February 2012 all these solutions can be found for the first time under one roof at Flanders expo, Ghent. Moreover IFEST in 2012 is the only fair in Belgium aimed at the environmental sector.

Cleantech
For years Ifest formed the showground of a green industry, with many solutions for waste, soil, air and water issues for companies and governments. The expansion into cleantech is obvious.

Cleantech is a collective noun. It embraces technical solutions relating to energy and environment. New challenges have opened up for the traditional environmental sector, which also comprises water purification, soil remediation, waste. The techniques being reviewed and rediscovered and reinvented. The best known example is the cradle-2-cradle approach. Waste is no longer a burden you need to get rid of, but a raw material for new products and an opportunity for creative minds.

Energy solutions also occupy an increasingly prominent place within the term cleantech. The potential of renewable energy is well known, but also energy storage and -infrastructure (such as smart grids) are being used in increasingly broader ways. Energy efficiency for businesses and buildings is being given ever-increasing priority.
Cooperation with InfraTech

For the first time IFEST will be held concurrently with InfraTech. This trade fair for the land, water, road and traffic engineering industry is a meeting place for suppliers and principals from government and industry. The knowledge and innovation of the exhibitors is central to the fair. There are several parallels between the two fairs, both in terms of target audience and approach. The IFEST visitors' survey revealed that over 90% of visitors regarded combining these two fairs as a positive development. Through this cross-fertilization, the organizers are generating extra added value for both the trade fairs, which will undoubtedly lead to an increase in visitor numbers.

New logo
A new approach is a good reason for refurbishing the house style. The organizers drew their inspiration from the active sector companies. They are all exciting and rapidly growing organizations. The dynamic waves of the logo symbolize this movement and the development of the sector. The new baseline of IFEST 'Innovations for Energy and Sustainable Technologies' also stresses IFEST’s forward-looking approach.
