The 7th Agriflanders agricultural fair in Gent (Belgium)


The 7th Agriflanders agricultural fair will be held on 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th January 2011 in Flanders Expo, Gent.

As usual, this is the second weekend in January, but slightly later after the New Year than in 2009. This major New Year’s celebration of Flemish Agriculture has become a real must for both visitors and exhibitors alike. 

When it comes to participation from within the sector, our fair is evolving into an event in which all aspects of the livestock industry and mechanisation at farm level are taking precedence.

The lay-out of the fair will be approximately as follows:

Hall 2: feed, seed companies, farm products

Hall 4: authorities (The Federation for the Safety of the Food Chain (FASFC), Agriculture and Fisheries, VLM (Flemish Land Agency), LNE (Flemish Environment, Nature and Energy department), Provincial administrative departments, VLACO (Flemish Compost Organisation, etc.), agricultural associations, services, landscape integration of (agricultural) buildings

Hall 6: small ring and exhibition of pigs, sheep and goats, miniature horses and Shetlands, poultry and Stichting Levend Erfgoed (Living Heritage Foundation)

Hall 1: banks, VLAM (Flanders’ Agricultural Marketing Board), mechanisation, cattle breeding suppliers

Hall 3: mechanisation

Hall 5: stable construction and design, renewable energy

Hall 7: stable construction and design

Hall 8: large ring and exhibition of cattle and horses, cattle breeding, education (one coordinated stand for all schools and educational institutions)

Additional activities :

Numerous (1/2) day courses and seminars

Election of the most beautiful female farmer

Overview of the ring programmes:

Hall 8: Small ring

Thursday: Dairy breeds

Friday: Meat breeds

Saturday: Demonstration and show programme of different breeds of horses and ponies

Sunday: National Belgian Cart horse Tournament + demonstrations 

Hall 6: Large ring

Friday: Stud pigs

Saturday: Meat sheep and goats

Sunday: Shetland ponies and Belgian miniature horses

Permanent breed exhibitions:

Hall 8: Dairy cattle, beef cattle, horses and ponies

Hall 6: Pigs, sheep and goats, small livestock, poultry, horses and ponies

Opening times : 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission prices :
  • 10 euro
  • with discounted carte : 5 euro (given by most of the exhibitors)
  • children under the age of 12 years : free access
How to get there :

With car:
Exit 14 from high way E40 (Brussel – Oostende).
Public Transports:
The train to the station ‘Gent St.-Pieters’.
The tram nr 1 takes you every 10 minutes to the faire (7 min ride).
Free shuttle for visitors: sunday 11 january:
There is a free shuttle (and free parking) from ‘Makro nv Savaanstraat 1 9810 Eke ’. The first busses leaves at 08h30.
