Optimization of the spraying equipment and technology used in ornamental crops


In 2004, a survey was held amongst Flemish ornamental plant growers. The results of this survey revealed that ornamental plant growers, especially in greenhouses, predominantly use knapsack sprayers and lances for their crop protection purposes. When these techniques are compared with spray boom equipment, they are often found to be less effective, even though they mostly result in a higher application rate (450 to 6650 L ha-1).
