FilterPump
Designed to pump and filter water without the need for tedious filter cleaning or backflushing, the FilterPump is ideal for drawing irrigation water from ponds or lagoons. The FilterPump is designed around a submersible pump, but with an ingenious addition. At the base of the pump is an active filtration unit. Linked to the central shaft is an additional impellor which uses filtered water to wash the filter screen up to 60 times a second, keeping the screen free of debris. HAWE - New forks for pot robot
In order to separate the plants that have been picked up before they are placed on the conveyor belt, a pushing fork has been developed for the pot robot. HAWE - Pot retarding unit
A pot retarding unit has been developed for the pot robot for plants that quickly become stuck to each other. When picking up the pots, this unit grabs the first row of pots up, while the second row of pots is held back. HAWE - Stick insertion position
Developments in delivery systems are moving apace. It is increasingly important for delivery systems to buffer each plant individually. To protect these plants, they are transported through the greenhouse in a transport vase. HAWE - Transport support
More frequent use of a cup system is being made in the automatic thinning out of plants. In order to protect hanging leaves during automatic thinning out, an adjustable holder is placed on the cup to support the leaves. Thanks to the design of the holder, the edge of the pot remains free so that the pot remains easily accessible for the pot fork. The pot fork can automatically tip the pots out of the cup and place them in the container. This keeps disruptions to a minimum.

In the first two months after potting, it costs the phalaenopsis growers large effort to get the stock of nitrogening to a sufficient level. On the other hand the PH level during this stage is quite high. These two factors can cause an inferior growth of the phaleanopsis. Energy and plastic continue to increase in price. When producing injection moulded flowerpots, they are the two most important price determinants. Van Krimpen has developed a series of shrub containers with ±15% savings in raw materials, which also produces a considerable savings in energy. The technique behind it is simple: for the injection mould process, a particular wall thickness is essential to allow the plastic to flow through the mould. If the wall is not thick enough, the mould will not be properly filled with plastic, producing a defective product. By varying the wall thickness from thin to thick, this problem is avoided, and a perfect product is made with less plastic. By applying an unusual construction in the pot, it retains its rigidity.

A better greenhouse climate in a warm and dry outside climate. KUBO has developed a new concept in association with Houweling Nurseries in Oxnard. In California USA we successfully tested the system on 7000 m². Compared to the Dutch climate, in California a dryer climate dominates. Because of this dry climate it is possible to cool down the greenhouse by adding humid air into the greenhouse. With a climate chamber in the end gable walls of the greenhouse untreated open air will be sucked through a cooling PAD into the climate chamber. With fans this air will be blown threw large air-hoses witch are installed under the hanging gutter in the greenhouse. With a adjustable system in the corridor the grower can those between recirculation of the air in the greenhouse or for adding (cooled) wet air into the greenhouse. In this way it is possible to have high productions and relatively low costs, in countries with low humidity and much sun. Given the results in the test greenhouse we are now busy with the realisation of 2 x 8 ha tomatoes production with this technology for Houweling Nurseries Oxnard. Also because of planting in between we expect an production of over 100 kilogram’s p/m² per year.
