Migratory bird observation station established in Beijing

Beijing residents will have a new chance to get up close and friendly with wetland wildlife, when the city's first migratory bird observation station opens to the public in July.

Beijing Daily reports the station is set on a wetland that's home to more than 50 species of birds, including the rare Black Drongo.

Visitors will also get a glimpse of life below the wetland's surface, as they will be able to watch animals under water through an observation window.

Beijing has around 5,000 square kilometers of wetlands, home to 300 kinds of plants, 80 varieties of fish and 190 species of birds.
