Three hundred birds at Het Zwin will be given the vaccine, including all birds that are kept permanently caged.
Meanwhile, a colony of Humboldt penguins at the Sealife Marine Park in Blankenberge will also be vaccinated.
The Humboldt penguin is rarely seen in the wild, which is why the centre is giving them extra protection.
Newspaper adverts inform public on bird flu
The Federal Government has placed advertisements in several national newspapers to make the general public aware of the consequences of any outbreak of bird flu in Belgium.
The advertisement explains what members of the public should do if they find a sick or dead bird, as well a seeking to reassure people on issues of food safety.
The public is also made aware of the existence of a special government website on avian flu.
