Dutch authorities aim at publishing control data of individual companies

The food service sector is one of the first sectors that may be subject to the new form of transparency. Its frying behaviour has been part of a study to identify the current possibilities of the Dutch Food Safety Authority in publishing individual control data.

Dutch authorities aim at publishing control data of individual companies
The Dutch food safety authorities are aiming at publishing individual findings of official controls of food and feed companies.

From the study the authorities concluded they can publish individual control data, as long as they evaluate case by case that the interests of companies involved are not harmed disproportionably.

In response to the demand for transparency of control data by parliament and consumer organisations, the Dutch authorities feel the need to publish all their control data without having to have a case by case approach. At the moment they are looking for possibilities to change legislation to ensure this. MVO wonders how they can guarantee fairness to all companies involved and closely follows the developments in this field.
