The characteristics of the weigher are its improved qualities in relation to feeding and weighing of all kinds of fruits including long conference pears with long stalks. It is still as gentle as any apple weigher and runs Golden Delicious, Granni Smith and Cox Organge at a speed up to 40 1- 2 kg portions per minute at high weighing precision.
The radically new functionality is a patented portion handling system, which enables the apples to move from the weigh heads onto two cross conveyors extremely gently. The nickname for this system is the �cradle� because it nurses the apples as if they were babies.
Naturally this machine is developed for apple and pear growers in particular and even though the first machine was installed in Belgium the main clients has been companies in South Tirol up until now.
However, Newtec have already experienced that import/export packing houses desire this machine because of its multipurpose application. It runs fast enough to cope with oranges, peaches, plums, tomatoes and kiwis. And yet it is gentle enough to run fast with all kinds of apples and pears. Therefore packing houses or multi-product growers as far away as in New Zealand have already chosen this solution to ensure around-the-year utilization of the equipment.
The standard layout is the weigher feeding two polybaggers or roll-stock bagging machines � one on each side. However, another frequently chosen solution with a high flexibility is one roll-stock, polybagger or netmachine on one side and a punnet and tray filler on the other. In this case both cross conveyers feed the same packing machine.
