China launches anti-dumping investigation into imported potato starch

China announced on February 6 that it will launch an anti-dumping investigation into potato starch imported from the European Union.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce, the ministry began on February 6 to look into whether dumping exists, the extent of the dumping and its negative effects, if dumping is indeed confirmed.

The ministry advised that anti-dumping investigations usually take one year to complete, but the deadline could be extended to Aug. 6, 2007 under special circumstances.
