Fruit Logistica 2006: Atlanta now has quality assured and organic certification

In 2005 Atlanta AG achieved a turnover of 1.5 billion euros and had a workforce of some 1,000. The company achieves widespread coverage of the German and Austrian markets from 19 sites.

New agencies were set up in 2004 in France, Spain and Italy, which procure and distribute produce from their respective locations. Most recently an agency was also opened in Hungary, and others are being planned. For Atlanta AG a great deal of emphasis is being placed on an awareness of quality at the FRUIT LOGISTICA 2006: We are the first company in the fruit trade to achieve certification in accordance with the QS standard and moreover, in 2005, we completed the organic certification of all our commercial sites.

That is a major achievement of which we are particularly proud, reports Peter Jung, Chairman of the Board of Atlanta AG. In addition to a significant expansion of its own product procurement through a subsidiary, Direct Fruit Marketing DFM GmbH, in 2006 the company is also focusing much of its attention on the procurement and marketing of organic produce under the kofrucht label. Atlanta plans to double its turnover in this product area.

FRUIT LOGISTICA offers us an outstanding opportunity to demonstrate our knowledge and expertise to our customers and suppliers. We are delighted to be in Berlin, Jung added.
