Fruit Logistica-GFI German Central Markets;strengthening existing relations and making new contacts

The organisation promoting the interests of Germanys central markets (GFI) was established in 2000 and is the association representing the 13 leading fresh produce centres in Germany.

Through some 1,500 small and medium-sized wholesalers and importers the central markets supply over 25,000 customers with fresh produce from the regions and also from all over the world, as GFI board member Andreas Foidl explains. Customers include retail food chains, and in particular independent retail greengrocers, market traders, and up-market caterers. Foidl adds that over four million tonnes of produce worth around 4 billion euros pass through German central markets every year.

As the central, urban trade platform they ensure the quality of the food for some 100 million consumers in Germany and its European neighbours.
The 13 main centres for fresh produce in Germany are attending FRUIT LOGISTICA for the third time, on the 400 square metre GFI combined stand. Foidl: On our stand at the fair trade visitors can again see for themselves how up-to-date and important Germanys central markets are, as well as obtaining information in the form of lists of companies and brochures.

The purpose of our participation is to strengthen the links with existing trading partners such as Zespri, Enza, the South Tirol Fruit Industry and Sopexa. We are also expecting to hold many discussions again with other interested parties from around the world.
