The group concludes that BPA (and possibly other endocrine disruptors) could induce insulin resistance by mimicking the natural hormone that acts to modulate insulin release. The BPA compound induced insulin resistance in mice at doses much lower than the U.S. reference dose, and may induce type 2 diabetes in mice at only twice the U.S. reference dose.
