AGCO to Produce 'High-Tech' Massey Ferguson Tractors in 2006

A spokesman for AGCO Corp., Coventry, Britain, announced that the firm will launch production of a new line of 160-185 hp Massey Ferguson farm tractors at its site in Beauvais, France, which benefit from the high-end transmission and engine technologies of its larger MF 6497 and MF 6499 tractors.

The new MF 6485, MF6490 and MF 6495 model farm tractors will feature Dyna-6 Eco transmissions and SISU Tier III diesel engines when they go on sale next quarter, AGCO said.

The SISU Diesel common rail engines offer up to a "15% power boost," compared to the previous models, Agco said.

The tractors' SISU Diesel 66.CTA engines have a 6.6 liter capacity and are turbocharged and inter-cooled.

The Dyna-6 Eco engines enable the farm tractors to reach a top speed of up to 50 km/hr at 1,900 rpm or 40 km/hr at 1,800 rpm.
