Nestle sued by Australian straw designer

Food giant, Nestle has been taken to court by Australian straw maker, Unistraw for allegedly copying its design for a drinking straw.

Unistraw alleges that Nestle's magic straw range, a straw which releases flavoring into the drink when used, is in violation of its existing patent. The company claims it entered into negotiations with Nestle in 2002 concerning the product, but the possibility of a joint venture ended when talks broke down. Nestle has so far refuted the allegations.

Unistraw has lodged its case in the UK's High Court in London and is looking for multimillion pound damages.
